Go with the 350Z if you like a GT cruiser, go with the EVO if you want a rocket go cart ;)

Yeah... They are two different ball fields... I want a quick RWD so bad, but the sedan part has a big advantage. They both have to look good of course :)

Some other options I was looking at:
05+ Benz C230
03+ BMW M3
09 Mazda6
06+ 350z
EVO9

I want something with more luxury but still fast or somewhat fast.

i would cross out the germans. too high of a cost for repair and you would need plenty of it. i was considering an 05+ e500 or e55 but the cost of repair is ridiculous. there is a reason why people sell their cars after the warranties are up. my roomie has an 05 c320 and that thing is literally falling apart. her side mirrors don't work anymore, her interior door latch is detached, and the ride is too bouncy. i also considered the cts-v but heard bad stories on those (bad rear differentials). 350z is just way too impractical. there's no trunk space (could only fit 1 wheel back there) and the interior is cramped. the dash is pretty high also and i'm 5'8" tall.

That is why I use my Xb for a daily. I struggle on my Z to even carry what I need to take rigs shots.

I hate 350z's, I test drove one when i thought about trading in my is300. No space at all, i felt like the car was going to crush me and the transmission feels sloppy. I'm about 5'10''. I hate you guys with your rigs, i need to make one:D

But yeah. I'm either considering a 06+ IS250 or a EVO9...

I almost bought an Evo IX MR but ended up settling for a Mazdaspeed 6, (for $7000 less) it is the best of both worlds in my opinion.
The new Evo X has no trunk at all.
Mazdaspeed 3 is probably one of the best bang for buck cars out there right now.

Hello everyone!
First, thanks to all of you for posting and sharing your ideas on your rigs. I was very glad to find this thread since I've always wanted to take these shots of my car and didn't know where to start. Everyone I asked on the car forums kept their designs pretty much top secret. Go figure..lol
Anyways, I already have the aluminum tubing and the tripod ball head, but I'm thinking of going a diferent route with the suction cups, eliminating the need of having to buy the clamps. With that said I wanted to share these I found on the web, hopefully what I have in mind will work..

The cups are 4.5" in diameter and are tested @ 40lb. I figure if I get two, the weight distribution should be more than enough to hold my D50 and the rest of the gear. My only concern is the length of the stud which is 5/8". Not bad, but I'd like it to be a bit longer. I will contact the manufacturer to see if I can replace them with longer ones.

These suction cups are probably okey, but maybe you will run into the same problem because they're not adjustable

Hopefully my aluminum tubing comes in soon! If not I might have to look around locally for some tubing... If I did buy some tubing locally, would anyone be interested in buying the tubing that will be/is on the way to my house?
