why would you get those ones from grainger when you can get the same type that people have successfully been using on here for like half that price?

the suction cups on that site are like 100+ dollars, I have yet to see another cup cost that much!

go with the metal ones. i have both the plastic and metal and the plastic ones are cheap and doesn't work as well as the metal ones. metal ones stick better and hold their suction. it took 3 pumps to get full suction from the metal ones and 5 pumps to get the plastic ones to stick.

Great info everyone  I've been shooting cars for quite sometime. I'm a big fan of hanging dangerously out the window at 60+ MPH on the freeway taking rolling shots :D I've always been intriqued by rig shots and now I have the means to get the supplies together and make one. Thanks everyone!

You do know you don't have to go 60 mph to get that motion look, right? Maybe you need to learn a little more about pairing up ISO, shutter speed, and aperture...

Back on topic indeed :)
Ok, so I did a little change of plans.. went to home depot and got a 10 feet aluminum conduit pipe 3/4" thickness(yes, they do have aluminum pipes) and with a 3/8-1.5" bolt, some washers and a pair of nuts "no pun intended" I made this:

what I like about having the ballhead bolted directly onto the pipe is that the camera doesn't hang all the way down, has less weight and reduces swing..
As far as suction cups go, I found this guy online who was selling a pair of the big power grips and couldn't get a better deal, $50 for both(these suckers supposedly hold 120 lb each, more than enough suction to hold my gear). Now I just have to figure out a way to attach the pipe to the suction cups.
