Am I crazy for planning to use my 5DII on my rig when I get it, even if I keep my 40D?

Why - I always use my 5d II on the rig, but you must be sure, that everthing is working fine and check every time what`s up with your boom.

I think it depends from the quality you want. If you work for magazines I think you need the 5d, for private use the 40d - may be - is ok. But if you want to make some driftshots like StE823 I would prefer the 40d... 10MP is plenty for 300ppi magazine prints

Rig was on for about half an hour (so less time than I usually rig for) and when I was taking the Avenger's off, I noticed a ring on the bodywork. Thinking its just rubber sediment from the suction pad (as I usually get) I starting polishing with a microfibre. Nothing. Under closer inspection, we noticed there was a raised lip all around the circle. Not only is it permanent but it is very visible on such a clean car. The owner called me later saying that he took the car to his detailer after the shoot who used a mechanical buff-polisher and managed to take out about 90% of it using a hell of a lot of T-cut. Its why I always try hard to suck onto windscreens & windows, but with this TVR being a convertible, one of the pads had to be on the bodywork. So yeah, just thought I'd put out a little warning to anyone rigging FIBREGLASS bodied cars... be careful, maybe try out first somewhere out of sight. Anyone had similar problems? I've had 0% problems with metal bodied cars. I presume Carbon Fibre is even more fragile?

I sprayed aircraft for 8 years with carbon panels (and now work in films doing similar work using carbon etc), using the best primers and it still chips off, carbon can only have so much prep done and with cars, like TVR, Ferrari etc that use them kind of bodys, the paint layers are thin. You may of lifted the paint slightly, but it sounds like the marks gone so hopefully you haven't. Interested in seeing the photos too.... ![]() The annoying thing is it was probably the poorest rig session I've done yet! Rushed, bumpy, full-blown sun, had to resort to cheapy eBay ND8's which killed the colour, and extremely dirty lens. The latter of which is really starting to annoy me.. i can't see the dirt, inside or out, and it keeps coming up. Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f**k the prom queen.

Where do you go, notice your from London. I want to make my own rig up for use on friends cars, but haven't found the time or money yet. London bred, but studying up in Nottingham for the time being. The rig cost me about £200. Most expensive parts were no doubt the Avengers, the Magic Arm and the Super Clamps. The rest I made up in a workshop. Losers always whine about their best. I'm hoping to get Kam Photography turning a bit over the summer so if you can arrange cars down in London I'd be happy to meet up and get some photography going with the rig, you can see how it works / where its flaws are etc. So long as they're relatively decent cars. I'll be building a new rig in the fall so we could even strike up a deal on the old one! ![]() Sounds good to me if I don't have one built before then! The cars will be show/track cars/classic cars.
