Has any body had success with the harbor freight ones? I think I'll probably go with a nicer one but just getting ideas right now.

They say they hold up to 125 pounds. I don't have a rig, but I Imagine there is the weight of the rig and since the bar is so long the torque and moment about the suction cups becomes pretty significant. Enough that I wouldn't want my $5000 investment dangling from a $5 suction cup.

I have 2 of these sitting at home, and am contemplating building a test rig with them, they should be alright, as long as you dont use them on a drifting rig like StE823's

i personally would be a little less trusting of those. the pump action ones pretty much guarantee a tight hold...those however, there is no indicator.

guys, just a quick question, which I'm sure must have been answered countless times already: How much diameter and length should the aluminum tube have? And where can I buy one btw? Hardware stores don't sell them do they?

Thanks in advance. :D:D

Two test shots I did to test the stability of the rig. I used the same system as StE823 (thanks for the idea!), and am pretty happy with the limited verticle bounce... now to solve the front/back swaying...

Quick question. I'm going to go with 3-5foot sections (2OD 1.25) and was going to machine the ends so they could thread together. Now my question is: should I bump up the OD on the metal couplers(that will thread into the pole) or the thickness??

go to a metal supplier

anywhere from 1.5-2" OD will suffice.

you want at minimum 10'
