Question guys. What combination of shutter speed and aperture are you using? What should I set the camera to? Program, Manual, Shutter or Aperture priority? I have tried every single combination playing with the speed and the aperture, but no matter what I do, all my shots end up over exposed! Is it because there's still too much light outside? Any help is appreciated..

It is no different than any other subject. Set what you want then adjust the rest. In this case we know we want a slow shutter. Tv or manual will work. Then adjust the aperature to the aproprate setting. It will be determined by how much light wou have available to shoot with.

If your needle is in the middle you are OK. Perfect results my dictate other wise. But center is a good start.

Thanks, I guess what I'm trying to say is:
Given that one's using such a slow shutter speed, can one take a shot like this at 2:00pm in the afternoon?

You should also look into getting a graduated ND filter.

BTW - I got my tubing today!! :) I am going to try and fabricate my old design and take some pics some time this week.

Or just a regular ND filter (Sometimes I've had to stack 3 at a time when shooting mid-day.

Hmm, stack 3 filters eh? I didn't think you could actually shoot rig shots at noon..
Anyways, not the best shot/angle, but this is what I came up with. PS would be nice, but what I have is a mickey mouse editing program for now :(

And here's the rig on the car. I was going to put it on top, but I have sun roof and I would have to get a longer pole.

I guess it's not bad for a first try. It'll improve with practice and a difernt rig position.

That's what I thought since we are using such a slow shutter speed, unless some one takes the shot driving next to you, then again we're talking about rigs here

Yes, PS would be nice, I have a friend who says will give me a copy..we'll see. How long have you had your teg? Looks very clean!
