Rolling shoot is different than a rig shot.

12 feet is probably gonna be too short.

I use a 9.5' boom and it works just fine.

for cars like these i prefer a higher angle, because you can't see the windshield at all, that's why u need a longer boom.. longer boom doesn't only give you more space.. it also allow you to zoom in more to kill distortions..

i like the super low angle around the curve, think it looks pretty neat. but agree alternatively a higher up 3/4 view would be a good compliment to add to this.

In that case I'd prefer to use a higher mounting rig. In fact, I just ordered the parts I need to make my rig mount higher.

But at the same time, I like the low angle of this shot. The yellow dividing lines is part of what makes that picture, IMO.

And for fun. I mounted just one of the 4ft sections and drove around to test stability. I was fairly comfortable driving at 40mph. It was very stable but I definitely need another suction cup before this one becomes a drift rig...

you need more than 3 cups to have a drift rig.. lol, speed is not really a big matter to do drifting shots.. the biggest thing i had encounter was the g-force create by the centrifugal force while the car is doing donuts or drifting in a circle.. and a good driver is a must because you need to sit down and plan with the driver to do the shoot

just found these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk …ports&hash=item414411fb56 (external link)

Are they any good? I've seen many of you using avenger suction cups and couple them with manfrotto clamps. But here the clamp and the cup are only one piece.

im not 100% certain, but that seems a bit pricey to me.

a super clamp is ~25usd i think.

and an avenger is only 50.

the ebay link shows manfrotto superclamps fixed on a woods powr grip (<- better than manfrotto cups)

but you cant move the clamps in any direction...so this is no good solution.
