Hey guys, need some help here. For those have have a rig stabilized by a cable, can you take pictures of the middle section of the pole where the cable is held up? I need to get ideas of how to do it. Examples of such:

@JFP
The light in the color image is very nice, but it seems, that the car is not really sharp complitly - what f-stop did you use? May be you have some bounce on your rig.
I would clone out the tree behind the car - it's irritating a little bit - the same on the b&w.
And the car could be a bit lighter on both pics.

For my taste it's really hard to get a real good rigshot in b&w, I think you need a perfect location, light and car - just my opinion - go on!

Thanks for the comments!

I'd have to revisit the photos to verify. Both were done with different F-stops since this was a test. I did have some bounce since the car was driven.

I was somewhat fond of the tree. To me it seemed to confirm the motion.

I'll revisit this weekend and try something new. Thanks again :)

I would'nt drive the car - push it or better let it push ;-)a.
Yes, the trees show the motion, but the problem I think it's only one tree with to much blur directly behind the car.
I always try to find a clear outline of the car with no optical disharmony with the background - sorry, that's terrible english I think.

Hey quick question for those of you using the magic arm. Do you guys recommend the variable friction or locking lever? A link from B&H would be good too. Thanks in advance!

I like the locking lever. Once it snaps it seems to be very secure. But....I've never used the other style.

Has anyone ever used these type of suction cups for a rig set-up?

I believe some exist that allow some swivel for curved surfaces as well but I can't find them off-hand.

those would be a pain to attach to a boom

the pump action cups are definitely the way to go.
