I don't know that they would be that bad to attach
Something like this: http://www.greenhousemegastore.com …-klamp-clamp-cross-dd.jpg (external link)
or make some other system, I'm decent at fabrication so I'm not too worried about that aspect. I'm more worried about the holding power and cost.
$100 for a pair of suction cups is a bit pricey if I'm not sure how deep into a rig system I want to go.

I'd rather pay 100 for suction cups than have my camera hit the floor....

Agreed.... spend 100-200 bucks, or lose 1000, 2000, 3000, etc depending on model?

I've seen other home made rigs use this - usually because the cost is very low, about £5 here in the uk for these. We use them as glass/floor tile movers. easy to attache to a boom, usually done with jubilee clips.
The trouble is the rubber is quite hard on therm.

Yeah...that would be cheaper...but then you'd need a friend and another car.

Another advantage of suctioncups in my eyes is that you can check every time what's up with your rig, because the red ring shows if the vacuum and the grip goes down.
If you want to rig up an expensive car with 5$ holders, I don't know...

Has anyone ever used these type of suction cups for a rig set-up?

I believe some exist that allow some swivel for curved surfaces as well but I can't find them off-hand.

I've used them in the rig we built and they worked out great. Can't complain.

Was just referring to damaging the camera! Taken a few shots out of friends cars, come out well.. Really want to try rig shots though soon.

As above, I'm going to get my rig made soon, once money allows. Without me trawling through this thread again, could someone recommend me a good pair of suction cups please!

Hi Guys,

I'm following this topic for over a year now, and finally got suction cups and everything. But now I have a problem with the settings of my 40D. When I want to set the shutter time to 2 or 3 seconds, then the camera automaticly takes f/22 as setting, but even then the picture is almost completelly white. Can't you do rigshots in daylight then? Or... ?? Could somebody help me out with this?

Euuhm, nope. It's on the "TV" setting now, so that I can choose the shutter time. Should I put it on the M ? But then what?

1) Can anyone explain how the Avenger F1000 suction cups attach to the Manfrotto Super Clamps? It looks like the Super Clamps want to accept a hex shaped rod, but the Avenger F1000's are a round post.

2) Also, do people normally shoot with their camera upside down or right-side up? (I'm guessing upside down)

Thanks
