1) Can anyone explain how the Avenger F1000 suction cups attach to the Manfrotto Super Clamps? It looks like the Super Clamps want to accept a hex shaped rod, but the Avenger F1000's are a round post.

2) Also, do people normally shoot with their camera upside down or right-side up? (I'm guessing upside down)

Thanks

1) The top of the F1000 is actually hex shaped and slots right in.

2) Right side up with a Magic Arm for me.

Second day with the rig:

Thanks! And WOW! Beautiful shot and only your second day....WOW! Thanks raytran. (I can barley see where you painted out the pole though...but I doubt the public would notice it)

Thanks! Yeah I agree about the public not noticing comment. I posted a bunch of pictures on Facebook and they couldn't tell. I think only photographers would know, but I'm working on my Photoshop skills.

Still and awesome shot. Great color. Perfect contrast. I'm looking forward to future stuff.

One other dumb question.... How to you (or other people) push their cars? Do they get a few people to help get it rolling and then jump away just in time for the photo? (I guess it depends on how well the car rolls) Or do some people drive them? (I'm not going to do that with our expensive glass/body)

The first day I was testing it out with the FD's on my Flickr, we were pushing them. It was pretty difficult because the parking lots are not perfectly flat. So the second day I just told the non-FD guys to just try driving to see how it turns out. Surprisingly they were all pretty clear to me. The only problem is that with standard cars, accelerating from a stop creates a lot of bounce so I tell them to shift into neutral when they are up to speed. I walked beside them to stabilize the rig and then stepped away to take the shots. Hope that helped!

Hey guys, I've read several pages inthis thread but am still wondering:

is there a way to buy/build/attain a rig for less than $100-150? I can't justify spending 400 on a rig....lol If someone could help point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!

I would say there is... if you build it over time buying used gear and were a machinist... then you would have everything for cheap and could make a bitchin' rig... but thats like winning the lottery. Very unlikely.

I think this has been my toughest rolling shot yet in terms of post processing. I had to recreate almost half the side of the tall building in the back and I also had to create from scratch the corner of the building on the left.

What a pain. Although I managed to do all of it in about 6 hours.
