I'd make the assumption that the lever would allow you tighten it further, and if I remember correctly from a video review it also has a built in ratcheting mechanism. I see no advantage to having a wheel, I do believe it's just an older design.

Actually I find the wheel is MUCH better to use after using the lever for 2 years. I can compose the framing easily with the friction wheel lock, with the lever I had to compose, lock, and if i don't like it I have to unlock and recompose again.

Also it fits nicely in my pelican case than the lever.

I agree, after owning both, the wheel is significantly better than the lever. My lever magic arm broke after 2 years, and would no longer tighten properly. I don't think the wheel is susceptible to that problem in the same way.

here's another attmpt. i didnt use my visual echoes boom on this one tho. i was able to get my hands on a carbon fiber boom that belongs to Richard Thompson. that thing didnt bend/ flex at all.
