I think it's drawing attention away from the car... maybe clone it out to match the rest of the ground? It could just be me, I don't really know what I'm talking about, lol. Great shot! Call me Erich.

Jun 04, 2011 01:34 | #5338 Decided to put together an inexpensive rolling rig instead of buying the avengers, super clamps and magic arm. Atleast for now anyway, Trying to see what I can get from this setup before I decide to blow the money on the good stuff. I bought two autobody dent pullers (the dual suction cup kind) from craigslist, $25 each. Bought 20ft of EMT electrical conduit from home depot, all I wanted was 15ft but had to pay for 20ft since they were 10ft poles. The guy there cut them into 5ft'ers for me so I have an extra 5ft no biggie and cost around $20. Got some couplers to connect the pieces together and some hose clamps to hold the poles on the suction cups. Also bought a small tripod from bestbuy for $15 which I clamp to the end to hold the camera. Only down side is for most shots the camera has to be upside down so all the shots have to be spun around which is kind of a pain. I can see where the magic arm would be nice now.
(DUPLICATE IMAGE) IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mranvil/5795300911/ rolling shot cloned Out of over 100 shots this was the best one, and this is pretty blured. I tryed to sharpen it a little and up close it's still blurry. All the rest were blurred bad from the camera bouncing. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow night with the rig the way it is, but I am wondering how worth it is having a wire on the rig to make it more rigid and bounce less. My car is manual shift so babying the clutch in 1st gear gets a little jerky and the camera is just all over. Is it worth adding a wire? Also any C&C on this shot would be great. These were the camera settings. No need to open it to 2.5 second. The longer the shutter is open the more blur you get. More rigid pole, pushing the car, and turning off the engine are also going to help. Good luck.
