It's just the same. As long as you don't rig up a fresh paintjob when it's still soft then you should be fine.

Yep. Did that a few weeks ago and ruined a freshly painted trunk hood. Well, he didn't tell me the paint is fresh

This is a shot I did of a 1 month-old Nissan 370z. The suction cups left mean marks on the hood of the car. A great shot ruined by round circles on the hood. We tried buffing out the marks with wax, but no luck.

Any advice I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Wax really isn't meant to do any correction to paint, so my first suggestion would be to try some compound. Always start off with the least abrasive pad and compound you have, and try a small test area first before doing the entire area.

Also, if you're trying to remove them by hand, try a nice random orbital polisher. A rotary will cut faster typically, at the risk of burning paint or trim.

PM me if you need suggestions, I'm no expert, but kinda OCD about my cars.

Overexposed but a bigger problem is it looks like only your wheels are spinning. Due to the lack of motion from anything in the background.
You could've tried turning the car and that wuld've given you plenty of background motion blur.

CAN you please show the way your boom sections a put together please..
I have to work on mine but don't know what's the best way!!!
Thanx a lot!!!

I bought a length of thicker wall alu tube and had it machined down for a perfect fit inside the boom lengths. The old man did all the machining for me which helped keep the cost down alot, so the grand total including all the stainless guide wire parts was only about $90. The joiners are in three stages and get slightly shorter towards the camera end to keep the weight down a little on that end.

Long time lurker, but I was finally able to get some time to try and do some rig shots. This was my first attempt; and boy did I learn a bunch! Here's a "behind the scenes" view:

IMAGE: http://www.unitonestudios.com/_Other/G8/Rig_Photos/IMG-20110625-00102_sm.jpg

I still have a few more images to process (they are more of a side-view), but figured I'd throw the ones I've done out there for comments:

The ND filter I used added a magenta hue to everything, which lead to quite a drastic "processed" look to the final photo. I was also careless with the exposures (wasn't looking at the histogram like I should have been), so that made for a blown-out sky. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the results... but know there is room to improve. C&C is greatly appreciated, and don't be afraid to be too hard either.

Second shot is best. The first and the last don't have as much of a sense of motion because of the background that the angle has captured. It's captured a background that seems stationary.

And composition should apply to rig shots as well, the first one has a lot of space on the left with nothing going on. Wider sides of cars work best here unless there's something interesting in the surroundings.

The road was really bumpy trying to do this shot but this was the only one that came out sharp.

My first rig shots. Done in a dark and rainy afternoon in the Norwegian mountains. Used my ND110 filter - and with wrong settings i got 90% underexposed pictures...my fault, should have used no filter at all, or maybe just a CPL. But i learned a lot!

All pics shot in ISO200 as well, wich is to much for an old DSLR - lot of noise as you can see. Hope to get another try soon, but first i want to get some comments and feedback on my first attempt.

Very nice photos, just as you said, few stops underexposed.
But I would be happy with those as my first shots.

I am currently waiting for my avenger cups to arrive, and tomorow I sould start ond constructing alu. boom.. :)

His shutter speed isn't slow enough. 1/2 second isn't gonna cut it.
