Hey everyone. Ive been reading this thread over the past few weeks and last week I did my first rig shoot. I know I need slow shutter speed and wider angle. But what do you think?

I was using a 18-200mm lens

bannedPermanent ban

1) its cropped too tight, need a wider lens or a longer boom
2) not enough motion blur on the wheels+BG
3) the detail is lost in the blacks...needs to expose or edit better

1)I waiting on 10-24mm lens I ordered yesterday.
2)Yeah, I should have used a slower shutter speed.
3) I was tinkering with another shot last night and i found out how i can make the lip and blacks in general look better.

Thanks for your input

I like the tight crop to be honest, I like to see more of the car and less of the surroundings.

Love the composition on that one. Looks a bit soft here, but could be compression from upload. Sick shot. :)

I actually kinda like this because of how the wheels look. Perhaps try same speed but have the car turning so you get more happening in the background at the same speed.

Great picture Ronaldo, I had one of your pictures from stancenation as my background for the longest time haha. How sturdy was your boom being extended that long?

I went out yesterday to have another go at the rig shots:

I'm learning more and more about what I need to do different with this type of shooting. I really wish the second shot was sharper, but I was fighting a 10-15mph cross wind (so had to try and hold the rig still).

Thanks I'm waitin on a 10-24mm lens I just ordered. So after I get that I'll have more background.

Also I read that the load capacity if the f1000 suction cups was only 4.4lbs. Does that mean we are all over loading the suction cups. I was going a quick calculation with a 15 ft boom and a 4 lb load at the end where th camera and magic arm go. With 2 suction cups, one at the end of the boom and one 4 ft away, the load on the middle suction cup come to 43.125 lbs and on the end one was 62.125 lbs?? This was using a boom weight of 15 lbs. Did I calculate wrong? Or is this correct and can these suction cups hold this?

haha thanks dude thats so awesome hearing people using my photos for their wallpaper, means a lot. The boom is about 15ft and can get a bit bouncy if the road isnt even. I just take multiple shots and pick which one looks the sharpest.
