Wanted to see if I could rig my bike, not sure about cornering with rig on yet!

Needs a better location and longer exposure or faster travel speed to blur up background too

I do. Even on a 1.3x crop sensor, it's still not wide enough for me on my 16 foot boom.
It's going to be even worse on a 1.6x crop sensor.

If you have a 550D, I suggest the Canon 10-22mm. The only lens I regret selling.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Thanks for the info! :D

I'm using the 17-40L on my 40D and it's enough for my 20' boom... I can fit my acura TL within the frame with extra space at a straight on profile shot.

I think i'm going to start making my rig soon.

Does anyone use the 17-40L for their shots? It's going quite cheap, well, I say cheap, it's still around £500.

And roughly, how long are everybodys booms? I was thinking of making a one piece carbon one, but then it would never fit in the car!

All of my rig shots this year are with the 17-40 on FF, but used to use a 10-22 on crop. Boom is 15'.

I like this! Would be epic with a drop in sky. How long was your shutter?

Just picked up the new rig, can't wait to try it out.
2"od aluminum tube, 3 sections 54"each, machined couplers with snap rings
to lock sections together. All hard anodized black.

I'm trying to build something like this.
What is the best thickness on a 2"OD aluminum pipe that can support a 5Dmk2 + 17-40?

^ I want to see that rig hooked up... That looks like an expensive chunk of aluminum. 13.5' doesn't sound to be long enough for my liking unless he's using 10mm.

It's not the OD guys, it's the OD/ID relationship, and which way the aluminum is made to be rigid. It's pretty pipe tho', that's for sure.

Rig purchase in New Zealand

Hi Guys,

I have moved from Singapore to New Zealand and I find it really hard to get the suction cups and clamps.
Would anyone staying in New Zealand able to share where to get rig related items?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards

There was this rig shot I did a while back, but I wasn't happy with the result so today I did a re-edit. Here is the result:
