I finally had a chance to test my rig. I still need to tweak some things but I was too rushed to keep going; I only had time for a few passes

ps: I'm painting my rig flat black. I don't like how the lights reflect/flare off of the silver poles, which makes processing a PITA

that's a funny story.

I invited a friend to bring his car over to test my new ND filter, and I called him 5 times early in the morning, but he never answered my calls.. until I decided to call this other guy and use his RX8..

During the shoot, I received a text mssg from my other friend, who said he left his phone in silent mode and missed my calls, so we sent him that picture to goof off on him..:lol::lol::lol:

Setting up Godzilla for a rig shot! (external link) by Emilio Ciccarelli | www.TWOLITREmedia.com (external link), on Flickr

Ill get better shots of my setup soon. I am going to be doing some major modifying over the winter, need more stability and adjustability.

Pretty simple, 2 industrial suction cups, 3 manfrotto super clamps, one Manfrotto super friction arm /w modular head adapter. 10' Bare Aluminum pole.

I was about to ask the same quest.
IMO, you should try different perspective instead of shooting the same style for all the pictures.

lol....I've explained this to you before on JDMR. The adapter screws on top of my industrial suction cups going to the manfrotto super clamps are like a half inch long which really doesn't give me very much option when trying to clear a hood, or trunk, or other body parts. Over the winter I'm completely re-designing my rig set up w/ boom and with an angle adjustable riser system off the suction cups.

With my set-up, dependent on the size of the roof of the car, doesn't allow for me the fit the car in the frame shooting through a 20mm lens. This coupled with what I've pointed out above is the cause of being stuck with shooting that low, that often. I don't really find my rig work to be my "forte" or anything, just through some shots up here I've goofed around with.

TWOLITRE... overall the image is sharp and well exposed. Being that I'm a motorcyclist, I can't stand being too close to the pavement. I get the sick feel of road rash coming.

Hey guys, I want to get some advise from you guys regarding shooting a high-roof minibus.

Problem is there isn't much flat horizontal surface on the bus to mount the suction cups. Any tips? Attach is the photo of the bus.

there are enough flat surfaces to fix the suction cups. Windshield, sidewindows, and so on! why does it have to horizontal? Vertical works great! you just need one oder two more cups!

I assume he wants horizontal as he wants a side or 3/4 view where as sticking it on the side of the van would only get you in front or behind. But yeah the windshield, hood, area above the windshield, and the roof if you get a step ladder would all be pretty good.
