This is one of my first shots since I picked up a boom from Andrew, I was surprised as it was heavier then I thought it was going to be, but it seems the extra weight adds to the stability of the boom as a whole.

Something to think about for you guys that have just fabbed up booms.

You're probably right. People say I'm nuts, but in many cases I can tell the difference between a carbon and aluminum boom by how "jittery" the background is with carbon. Not disrespecting carbon, so nobody freak out, but it has a different look in some instances. Both bounce, of course, but one bounces at a slow, heavy rate, and the other bounces at a fast, light rate.

Anyway, I like the shot, but wonder if you had a shorter exposure to use for the ground so you could pull some more detail out of it.

I love that shot dude, love the colors, love the contrast and how the car really sticks out, nice amount of motion. I agree with above as well, perhaps just slightly shorter exposure.

Also agree on booms being a bit heavier! Eventually I'd love a rig-pro, especially for the "extenders" because I can really see how they would help immensely.. but for now still a dream haha. My fabbed up rig boom I had custom made from an aluminum shop is great so far. Thinking of adding one extra piece to extend it to 16' but when I got it - it was much heavier than I had thought it would be. The weight certainly adds some rigidity to it, it just feels nice and "solid." I like it. Then, when compared to still or EMT it feels so much lighter haha..

Unfortunately it was longer exposure or higher iso. I was outta light. This still might have been 1600iso. Thanks for the feed back though!

I have been following this thread for months, probably more than a year!

Is is limited to Canon only users? I shoot with a Sony but didn't want to post just in case :)

I finally feel my shots are getting to a standard I would be confident sharing here :D

This is a thread about rigs, doesn't matter what you shoot. I shoot Nikon. I think at f8 or higher, it'd be hard to tell the difference between brands anyway, it's only the bokeh that looks a little different between them.
