First post so be gentle. I started off a few years ago with a homemade aluminum rig, been slowly upgrading parts and now using a carbon fibre rig. Dream is to eventually get a rigpro or ccr rig :)

I love this thread!

Here is one of my latest ones, finally feel like it's "clicking" and getting more consistent and better shots with the rig.

The vignette is due to shooting at 10mm with the ND400 and CPL stacked, I just removed it in Photoshop rather than crop the image.

My rig is 6m telescopic carbon fibre, with manfrotto suction cups, clamps and a ball joint camera bracket.

I also have a carbon fibre 18" extension bar I use. Excuse the instagram iPhone pic...

The outer edges of hoods are normally ok, but you'd definitely not want to place a cup in the middle...

yeah both cups were right at the opposite edges of the bonnet, didn't flex in the slightest. I would normally mount on the roof for this sort of shot but the wind was really bad.

Here is another one from that day....

Quite a few months back i sold my Rig-Pro rig to someone online. Shipped it through my company and got laid off. Unfortunately they never shipped it and had a extremely upset customer at the same time. I took a long time to resolve this issue and just got it back a little over a week ago. Was finally in a good enough place that i was able to refund the money to the guy and decided to keep my rig. I took two shots last week with it. I know the Boom needs to be edited out a little better in the shadow but just did not notice it for some reason.

Still just wanted to see what everyone thought about it. My original go with the Rig-Pro was not sucessfull and pictures were not sharp at all with the D600 and 16-35 f4. Nothing has changed in what i did now with a D800 so not sure how things changed.

I am now trying to improve my craft and my editing a little to improve my shots.

@SDUK, nice to see you here, I've seen you on 'the other forum' :)
I find it strange that you'd hesitate to post on here until you thought you were good enough. Hell, I posted my very first rig shots on here straight away! I don't care what people say about them, I'm here for the feedback, good or bad!

What camera body do you have? If you're using a 10mm lens and a 6m pole, I would have expected a wider angle than that. I guess you're using a cropped sensor body. If you are, you know, it might be just as cost effective to get a full frame body as it would be to upgrade your rig! You get more for your money as well!

Andy

hello mate, yeah didn't feel confident enough to share, the standard in this thread is epic.

I shoot with a Sony A77 and although my pole is 6m, it's telescopic so this was at a shorter length to try and combat the heavy winds that day :)

Looks good! :)
