1D Mark III and The Ring of Fire

I shot a whole softball game using only the Ring of Fire and must say that I was impressed. I didn't have a lot of situations where something cut in front of my subject so I can't say how the focus system would handle that. But it surely did a nice job tracking a single subject.

I like the last one with the rain drops coming down, adds to the composition

You know the red dots that are the focus points, this is only for the Canon 1D models, all of them have to lit up to be a 'ring of fire'

I have had quite a couple of my photos recently all lit up on my 50D, but like I said, this is only for the 1D models

Not exactly. For sports the OP was likely using AI-Servo. The center point is selected with ROF, but it will then track with all 45 points. Not the same as when the AF points is automatically selected with one-shot, where the nearest subject(with decent contrast) is selected using ROF.
