This guy popped up while I was shoting ( photographing ) Wood Ducks in a beaver pond. I think it's an Otter but...........

Mink. Ears too big for an otter and otters have shorter fur. The white flash on the chest is typical of some mink.

It definitely is a mink, but both mink and otter are in the same family, Mustelidae, so the OP was on the right track!!!
