O.K. here are the results of the contest. You have to remember that this is just my opinion, but since I am the judge my opinion counts as a lot!

Here are the winners:

1st - Digital Disaster - Smile for the camera - I loved the composition on this one. I personally would have cropped it a little tighter, but it's still good enough for first.

2nd - gih1020 - "A roll in the snow" - A great picture showing the playfulness of the dog. The contrast of the black dog and the snow works very well. By the way, I assume your picture was not over the 200K limit as I could not download this picture for some reason.

3rd - HuskerTony - "The water is fine" - A great picture of a great pose. It works very well.

Hon. Mention - BBoi - "sleeping cat" - Great composition and great focus on the nose.

Quick comments on the others:

quarters - ""Not" a lonesome George" - A good enough picture. It just didn't do much for me, though. Also the reflection in the one eye bothered me a little.

DreDaze - "'completely useless and unnecessary title" - Nice shot. It seems to be a little out of focus, however.

94GTStang - "mother duck" - This picture was disqualified - it was 44K over the 200K limit. And besides, a duck somehow didn't say "furry" to me.

DonJuanMair - "Oliver" - A very nice picture. The experts say to focus on the eyes. they seem a little off to me.

ToofastGTP - "Simba" - A cute picture. However it was over the 200K limit. Also I found the message on the computer screen in the background a little distracting. By the way, did you know you had your capslock on when trying to type in the password?

jorogume - "W!NK" - I like the concept - it makes a cute picture. As in some others, it seemed a little out of fucus to me (maybe my eyes are not working right today).

StanleyPope - "Snug as a bug" - Cute picture. The whole things looks a little "busy" to me - and again the focus?

ilikecats - "cat on a blanket" - Nice shot. But it does look out of focus. Also this picture did not meet the requirements of being 800 pixels on the longest side.

abuseddog - "pups playing" - I really liked the picture and the composition. If the quality were just a bit better, it would have been in the running.

Well, that's it - I would like to hear your comments on these, as well. Thanks so much for entering, everybody. I'm glad to see more and more entering.

Now, let's go on to the next one, Digital Disaster.

Thanks Edd S. Looked like a lot of good pictures this week. I'll get to crackin' on the next challenge and get it posted as soon as I can.

Good job Edd, I think you picked the best three shots.

Wow! Thanks for the 2nd place, Edd. Tough competition this week; I don't envy your judging duties with this one!

I had a hard time deciding on an entry for this topic, but that's one of my favorite pictures of our girl, for precisely the reason you mentioned. She was having so much fun running around on the lake that day, and this pictures brings it all back. I'm not sure why you had difficulty downloading it? FWIW, when I right-click for the properties, it shows a size of 57K.

Guess I didn't check too closely the size... but I do believe the little chics are pretty fury :)
