Went to Sebastian inlet to get some shots with the swell we have had here recently. Early morning there was a contest I was trying to get some shots of and further down the 2nd peak as we call it was going off so I was trying to grab some free surf too. Stood between the two peaks and kept shooting back and forth and what a difference the sun made from shot to shot. I ended up throwing it on auto exposure and hoping for the best. Wish I would have had enough lens to cover all the action from the far end! Here are two examples of right and left of me. The whole set linked here if you care to see them. (external link)

Nice shots, does monster hole still break. Back in the early seventies it was quite a break. Lose your board and you had a 1\4 mile swim to retrieve it.

Thanks for sharing

Yeah it does... and this was one of those rare swells where it gets some size but with the sun in my face and the length of shot from the end of the jetty I didn't even try to shoot it. I have been jumping my jetski out there for years and let me tell you... I have seen a few monster size bull sharks lurking out there! Surfed there all that time and never gave it a second thought till I saw those.

Great situation with the glowing, backlit waves.
Have you tried this scene with a polarizing filter?
I'm not an expert, just wondering.
Perhaps crop off the glare in foreground of the guy in the orange shirt
just to emphasize the very cool scene of the backlit wave
and the reflection of the curl at his feet.
Good shooting.
