These pictures were taking right northwest of Lake Superior in Ontario. A little lake called Rabbit Blanket lake. I went up there for a camping trip, and ended up with some good shots. C&C welcome.

Apr 22, 2008 14:16 | #5 Thanks, guys. I originally couldn't do much with these pictures because they were really grey and drab looking, but stumbled on some HDR techniques and it just brought them to life. -Canon XTi, Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5

Yeah, here they are. Mind you these were pretty quickly shot pictures as it was getting really dark very fast, and I didn't have a tripod with me. Lucky for me I had just started taking pictures in RAW right before I went on this trip, so these still had the detail left in them. Big change, huh? -Canon XTi, Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5

Apr 22, 2008 16:16 | #10 I used a program called Photomatix to do the HDR work. I created two pictures from those RAW pictures above, one at +2 exposure and one at -2 exposure, inputed them into the Photomatix program, messed with the tonality and white balance, outputted them back into photoshop(using a .tiff format), and finished with them in photoshop. Its really not that hard of a process actually. I'll get to take more pictures this summer, and i'm deffinatly going to try more HDR stuff. I'm not really happy with the crop on the second one, either. When I took the picture, I didn't have a lens big enough for me to zoom out anymore, and I had my back to a forest, so I couldn't move back. I'll see what I can do in photoshop to add some sudo sky. -Canon XTi, Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5

Apr 22, 2008 16:59 | #13 That does look better, but the thing I loved about the HDR pics is how they just pop. Heres one thats not HDR, but I still think it pops out at you with the colors. Which do you like better? I don't think it pops as much, though. Btw, do you guys usually use flickr, photobucket, or what for all this kind of image hosting? -Canon XTi, Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon 28-105 f3.5-4.5
