G5 picture quality loses out to Ixus?

Hi guys..

I've been using G5 for quite a while (taken more than 10k picts). Not sure whether its due to my phototaking technique, generally most of the pictures i've taken are not as vibrant as pictures taken from a Ixus off the basic auto mode. Moreover, I'm quite disappointed with some of the indoor shots i've taken even though i've tried various settings(I like to play with Av w/o flash). It only look nice on the LCD of the camera but seldom on the computer screens.

Is there any fellow g-series users out there who can share tips and techniques to take nicer pictures(mainly indoor and night shot)?

Any chance of puuting some on web to have a look, or post the settings/info of the pictures?

Sorry that I've already done basic post-processing (auto-level,contrast,color) and i do not have the original.
Hope tat u still can point out the fault in the pictures.
