I read somewhere on here about insurance. I am curious is i should schedule it on my homeowners as my auto insurance person siad that there is no deductable should i have to use it. Or Should I go with another company and get a seperate policy so if I have to make a claim, that it won't effect the larger homeowners policy with a claim (which i have never had to do)

What are some things i should look for in camera insurance? What do they normally cover (if i dropped the camera and it broke, is that covered?) Please advise!!

I found insurance to cover my stuff as a seperate policy... about $50 a year to cover $4000 worth. Covers everything including drops and theft.

Do you mind sharing what company you went through? Also did you ensure it as hobbyist or business?

I have mine covered by a rider on my homeowners policy. There was a little paperwork to set it up but it is pretty inexpensive and easy to set up. I just talked to my insurance agent to get it set up.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I used to have mine on my home & contents insurance.. now it's changing over to being under business insurance because I'm using it for paid work enough that it wouldn't be a valid claim under the home and contents...

I asked my agent about that (Farmers Insurance) he told me that it wouldn't be covered for damage.. just theft.

Lucy,

I don't mind sharing info with POTN members in general, however, your signature has a distictive Oklahoma reference. As you can see from the picture of my house below... I should not be sharing with YOU !! :) Kidding of course...

I have statefarm insurance. I got renters insurance for $15k and pay $150 a year, This includes all my camera equipment, with a 500 deductible.
