Ok, so I've been offered a job but only as an assistant (which I'm happy with because I'm willing to start anywhere) however, i know little about the business of photography.

This may sound like a stupid question but, what does an assistant do?
What do you have your assistants do?

They set up lighting, lug equipment around, sometimes retouch photos if they have the necessary photoshop/lightroom skills, call prospective clients, set up bookings, dates.. pretty much anything.

Learn all you can!
