Now be nice Wilt. Between the title and link I have no idea what this is about. Just a hint might be nice. I'm on a slow dial-up.

Wow, that's a lot.
Anyone know the average selling price? At $1,000 average that would mean $40 billion

The first line:

TOKYO, April 23, 2008 — Canon Inc. today announced the achievement of a new lens-production milestone as production of the company's EF lenses passed the 40-million mark.

If he was truly impatient, he would have clicked on the link before he complained! ;)

Wonder how many total they've sold going back to day one?

Can anyone find one older than this:

From the Canon Museum site

Yes, for example, this one http://www.canon.com …50-85/s_sere_50_35v1.html (external link)
Prior to WWII Canon cameras came with lenses made by Nippon Kogaku--a company now known as Nikon.

Speaking of which, Nikon took 48 years until they produced the 40 millionth F-mount lens. Canon reached 40 million EF lenses in just 21 years.
