meh, it's a marginal increase (less than 1%) on already very expensive lens. I don't really think the increase will stop many interested in buying it from buying it. I know it's still on my list.

Is there a set date when all the distributors will increase their prices? I don't know how this industry pricing works, but aren't the prices supposed to increase on new stock only? ie. when Canon marks it up they sell higher, if they have old stock at the lower price they can't sell at the higher price?

I too was considering this lens with my tax refund check, but not anymore, I will spend my weak american dollar on something else, the prices for a lot of other things that I want are going down or at least have incentives or free financing.
