I've checked all the flower books I have and can't find it. It's growing like a spring bulb, up every spring near other bulbs. Any ideas?

My first instinct wants to say that it is related to the hyacinth family, and after doing a lot of research, I came up with this one: Puschkinia scilloides, or striped squill. Some will also place it in the lily family as well. Here's an image: http://www.flickr.com …s/24984201@N00/468904209/ (external link)

Very cool thanks! Here's another angle. May I ask how you looked it up. I tried blue strip bulb spring flowering. etc...

Sure, like I said before, I thought it was related to the hyacinth family, so I looked up Hyacinthaceae. I admit that I am not a huge fan of Wikipedia, but it usually has a decent list of genera under family names, so I started clicking on them, or pasting the genera in a new page. I would look up the images from there until I found one that matches. So, I started out with this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyacinthaceae (external link)

I went down the list one by one until I got to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puschkinia (external link)

From there, I highlighted and copied the genus and species name, and pasted it into Yahoo. I clicked on images, and got these: http://images.search.yahoo.com …r2=tab-web&fr=slv8-frz200 (external link)

I still wonder if it could belong to the Scilla genus, however, but it seemed like it really matched the one I offered. I admit I am a geek at looking things up. I have more field guides that most normal people. When I was a kid, I would read field guides for fun, and I was identifying birds from field guides before I could even read. Friends say to never ask me anything that they don't want to hear more about, 'cause I'll find out and go back and tell them!!
