I'm trying to create a card that will leave a lasting impression on those that I hand it to. This is only the front right now, I plan to have a full color back but I wanted to see what you guys thought. This includes the 1/4" bleed, so it will be chopped off a bit on all sides.

Is the background behind the text too plain?

Removed card, I got enough comments, thanks.

I think the card looks really nice.

I've got a little boy about to turn a year old and I know you can get a bigger smile than that though!!!

The image obviously means a lot to you but to me it just looks like you stuck a family snapshot on your card. Maybe if it was in B&W it would have more impact. Makes me think that you just take baby pics.
Perhaps, if you're keeping the image, flip it so the child looks into the card.

I'm not designer, so I probably look at stuff like this differently. But personally this is not business card that would impress me. Somehow I don't like photos on business cards, even if we are photographers. But that's me, and my very very personal opinion. When it comes to this, I don't think there's much strict rules what is right and what is wrong, so personal preferences play big role with this.

Look at it at 272x160 pixels and see if you still like it. That's how it'll print. Simple for business cards is the way to go because you just cannot retain detail in a 3x2 business card.

Thanks for all of the comments. This is actually not my son but a boy that I photographed "professionally" for a client.

I will see what I can do with it. Thanks again.

To me it says your a baby photographer...Is that all you focus on? I agree with everyone on the photos on cards bit... Save the photos for postcards and other advertisements.

On a business its too limiting because of space...unless or coarse all you do is baby portraits..

The baby also looks a little too "processed" to me. Probably wouldn't be noticeable on a business card though . . .

I don't think it is to bad. But you do not want to pigeonhole yourself, ie, just kid photography, etc.

Also, the font is going to be difficult to read when it is smaller. Font needs to be crisp, stand out and very easy to read.

I think you are on the right track though.

I'm with most of the people here. Too much processing and I wouldn't put that picture on my card.

That being said the right side is nice....
