Was told this was a new release young Condor. He did not fly while I was there. Taken looking down from Navajo Bridge on the Colorado River south of Page, AZ. I think he was trying to figure out what I was doing with the 100-400.

It's a young bird, I don't have my list handy so can't give you all the info. I have photos of this one on the south rim near the bright angel. About 80 birds here in the park now, and they do put out deer carcuses every few days to help them out. Later in the season these guys hang out a lot up north of the canyon feeding on dead sheep on ranch lands. If there's a fire, they take advantage after it's past to feed on any animals that died in the fire zone. Mitch this bird is healthy, it's just hunkered down and resting. Looks kind of fat to me!
