Bringing this back up from the dead! Finally go my 28mm f2.8

Just some shots with the new 28mm f2.8. These are straight jpgs from the camera no pp and resized using imageshack/hosting. Focusing mechanism is definitely loud as hell and slow, but the lens is superb.

Are you saying that from the photos that you have seen here, your 18-55 produces better photos?

Or are you saying you have used both lenses, and you get better results from your 18-55?

Either way I think your statement is not accurate because either lens can produce very good photos, but they can both produce crap photos if not used properly. For most people the 18-55 IS is more useful because of the Image Stabilization and 18-55 focal range. For some people the extra stop of aperture, and smaller size of the 28mm 2.8 are more important.

Hi all,
I want to buy this lens. Im second photographer at weddings - and I need fast lens for low light indoor shoots of one person or small groups of people.

So I would like to see some photos of indoor portraits. And if you can tell me how god focusing is in low light situations. Tnx.

I've been using this as my primary lens for a couple months now. I've never shot with a full frame but i'm guessing if I ever switch to FF, the 50mm will get used a lot...

Is it the price that's luring you?

If not you might want to consider that there are zooms that are just as fast (F/2.8), still very sharp, quite cheap, and offer more flexibility such as the Tamron 28-75.

Yes price is big dill for me. I have 150€ max ,, 200€ max max ,, and for a few months I will have even less :) ... I can find used Tamaron 28-75 for ~300€ (in my country).

I don need flexibility in mm instead I need F as fast as possible,, 24-28 mm is working for me fine. My search say that only Canon 28mm 2.8 is in my price range.

btw. tnx for advice

Earlier this year I was in the market for a 28mm lens and I was trying to justify buying the f/1.8 vs. the f/2.8. Then the earthquake in Japan happened and lens prices skyrocketed. The f/2.8 became my only option at the time and I've gotta say, its performed quite well. This is definitely a lens that if you understand the limitations, and work within those, you can get some really great shots.

All shots are using a T2i & Canon 28mm f/2.8. Basic post processing was done(brightness, color correction, etc.). The first three shots were from an outdoor music festival. The other four were from a rock bar with a really nice stage lighting setup.

The band are some friends of mine called Gunship Radio (external link).

Just picked up this lens second hand. I'm happy with how sharp and contrasty it is.
I was thinking it was going to be on the wide side. But I like this focal length.

Blair; love the 'piggy' photo. Yes, this lens would be just a tad wide on the FF but not enough to be a bother. It's perfect on my crop body (60D).

Loving this lens. You couldn't ask for more sharpness than this.
