Thanks Dave. Ah well... that's life, I'm just glad I paid by credit card.
I see my orders on hold. I don't know if that means they'll actually get around to sending it out or not. But I'm quite tempted to pre-empt this by calling the credit card company and telling them not to pay. It means I wouldn't get the bargain I was hoping for, but at least I wouldn't be paying out for goods I'm not likely to receive.

Hard lines on the poor b***ers who work for them though. There's always somebody who suffers when this happens.

thanks

Perhaps we shouldn't worry too much... If you read the screenshot from their advert it says: "DCC is under new ownership" so that likely means that someone bought them out and they are trying to get rid of the old stock now so it may all be all right in the end. My order shows "payment on hold", too... So we will see what will happen... I shall be keeping my fingers crossed!

Best regards,

Anton

Yeah, tricky choice. I have a monopod and flash on order and both on hold. My own thinking is that I'll wait and see. It could be they are slowly clearing all their stock with a small staff to pay creditors and we'll get stuff. I'm not in need of the cash at the moment so will give it 'til end of next week or so before I really start wondering what to do. My card hasn't been charged. Sign up at Talk Photography and check the thread there as my guess is people will find out what's happening there and report.

I went crazy and placed a second order... My first order is still showing payment on hold but the second one from today has gone into "awaiting processing" status. Fingers crossed all will go well!

Best regards,

Anton

I've got two orders with them. Still 'Payment on hold'. Tried ringing them/email. No joy either way. :(

My order for the 580ex and b+w filter was just cancelled (got an email and it shows up on the site as cancelled)... My HV30 order is still "awaiting processing"...

So it seems they are at least alive even if they are not answering email/phone!

Best regards,

Anton

Yeah, my 580ex just got cancelled, even though it was apparently in stock. Oh well, it was worth a shot :-)

Why not try a purchase with One Stop Digital?

580EX II was £230ish.

One Stop Digital ship form Hong Kong so are not eligible for the Canon rebates. An their price of £238 for a 580EX is about same as kerso charges and you get the Canon rebate on stuff bought from him...

Also the One Stop Digital orders are subject to VAT and import duty on entry to the UK although they claim that they will reimburse those costs...

Has anyone used them successfully for buying things to the UK?

Best regards,

Anton

Fair enough. I will ask my friend tonight since he picked up a 70-200 2.8 from One Stop and see what he says.

I would like to deal with Kerso but will email him about availability.

I've just been notified that my order (580EX II and an angle finder C) has been despatched. It went through the "on hold" and then "awaiting processing" stages first though. They don't seem to reply to emails and the phone just gives a constantly engaged tone... I await further developments, and I'll post the results.

I suspect though, that they'll have a skeleton staff working to clear any orders that they can to get as much cash in as possible. But who knows?

In my experience kerso is much better at replying to PMs on POTN than email. I only communicate with him by PM now. Also in the past he has been known to offer discounts to POTN people so PM-ing him may be a better idea in that respect, too...

Best regards,

Anton
