Very few people have been able to pronounce my last name correctly on the first attempt.

Yes, my user name is my real name.

:lol::lol:

I used to have a fellow who worked for me named Tom Wong.

We had this whole routine when people called on the phone and asked for 'Tom.' We usually asked them if they wanted the white one or the Wong one. (I'm Caucasian)

We thought ourselves very funny.

I get called Dickhead quite a bit. While not my legal name, it's not exactly inaccurate either.

But do you respond when someone yells it out on the street? What if it's not directed at you do you automatically think they are talking to you?

People often misspell my name, but I usually just shrug it off as it's not a common spelling. I remember when I was young (probably about seven or eight) and my parents got my brothers and me some personalized license plates for our bikes. I was quite upset that mine was misspelled, but they couldn't find any plates with the correct spelling. I do remember being quite ticked off that they misspelled my name in my high school year book. Quite a few years ago, I got into some financial problems and had trouble paying bills for quite some time. Sometimes I'd get this phone call looking for "Kee-van." Nope. Noone here by that name. ;)

Most of the time, people see how my name is spelled and usually try to correct it. Oh, well. I usually make sure that my name is spelled correctly when someone is writing a check to me or filling out some sort of documents. Or when I'm on TV.

Last name is Wilkin

People keep wanting to put an 's' on the end.

That's because you and your other half are intrinsically linked. Therefore, they treat you as a plural.

After all, the plural of half is whole.

Don't have that many problems with my first name:wink: but it's the surname (Carlill) that causes people problems. It's not that common a spelling and often get pronounced wrong.

Once I had a girl making name tags at an event I was attending tell me it was spelt wrong. Thing was, I was telling her how to spell it so she could make out the name tag.

My last name gets pretty ate up more than not. I am so proud of the people that pronounce it correctly. I mean, really is it that hard?

ALL

RED

Two words we all probably say at least once throughout the day. What's worse is I have red hair lol.

It's not allerd, alred, or alFred (which seems to be the most common pronunciation).

With Gloria Allred flashing her mug all over the TV everyday, I'm surprised people have any trouble with your name at all.

I know this guy at work, for the last thirteen years, his name was Rob. He has changed it to Bob. So now some of us call him Brob.

As for me, I carry a badge (for work). Everyone's name is on their badge, and yes, this is really my badge.

until the clothing company hit big my last name was Hollinger, Holester, Hallester you name it. People who KNOW me, like see my name SPELLED - still call me Hollinger.

My first name? I get called Justin all the time. But people routinely call me something else.
