We have a member on the forum whose name is Kirstin. I've been chatting with her for a very long time, and we're buddies.
Not long ago, I realized her name is actually Kristin.

Even brilliant people like me foul up once in a while.

That's "brilliant and humble people," Tom. Traits we both share.
I have four names: René Roger Hector Breton.
My last name is "Breton." Six letters, very simple. It's the name of a People, people. My People, the Bretons. From Brittany (Bretagne), in France.
It is not "Briton," "Britton," "Britain," "Brenton," or any of the dozen or so other spellings people insist on using.
My first name is "René," four letters, with an acute accent on the last "é". I don't insist on the accent. This name is very old, very historical, very French, and very masculine.
My name is most certainly not "Renée" or "Renee," which many people insist upon using. Those are female names. Guaran-damned-tee I am not female.
Coupled with the name business, my proper title is "Mr." or, for formal use only, "Dr." It is not now, never has been, and never will be "Mrs.", "Miss", or "Ms." I cannot tell you how many times I receive mail addressed to "Ms. Rene Breton." That is both insulting and stupid. And guaranteed to go right into the trash can unopened.
