Well, being media does have its advantages ;)

I went to cover a charity hockey tournament, and part of it was a celebrity skills competition...I decided I might as well take my chances of getting hit in the lens/face with a puck flying at close to 100 mph (they had a radar gun) and get some unique angles...so I went onto the ice and hung around behind the net (no small feat when you're wearing worn as hell Airwalks ;))

Also, it was a good place to try out my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 ;) Oh yeah...C&C always welcome, but don't bother mentioning the horizon ;) In some, it's skewed on purpose on others....well I know I screwed up on others ;)

I really liked these ones (lemme know which one you think is better...especally since it was a shootout, so all the ppl in the background were about to attack him)

I don't think I'd have the pucks to hang out behind the net like that. Critique: they all look underexposed. I've never shot on ice and I'm sure it's difficult.

I'm a reporter/ news photog so i kinda get off on dangerous things i have wicked fast reactions and have never had so much as a scratch on my equipment. Ya i think i shot these too fast was really just testing the lens. I probably should have slowed the shutter a notch or two...oh well always a next time:)

Very brave to get on the ice like that. I'd be afraid of slipping with my equipment. I too think the shots are a bit underexposed. I have the same trouble with baseball.

The heck with slipping, I'd be much more afraid of taking a puck in the mouth or off my coconut.

You aren't dealing with NHL players who can pick their spot and hit it...You're nuts!!!

NOTE: That's "You're" not "YOUR"

haha....it only got sketchy a few times...once a slapshot went waaaaaay over the net and bounced back from the glass and landed behind the net where I was...that was a close call...and twice the puck exploded when they were doing slapshots so I had to dodge 6 pieces of flying crap instead of just 1 haha.

I like to get close and right in with the action (as well as trying to get a diff. angle), so I'm kinda used to being in harm's way lol (once another one of our reporters saved my ass when this house that was on fire had the roof kinda explode and there were chunks flying everywhere...I was too concentrated on getting some good shots when he grabbed me by the jacket and pulled me back rather violently lol...a split second later a big chunk of burning roof landed where I had been standing lol)

as for slipping...I realized that sliding is MUCH more controlled than trying to walk...so I basically just skated around with my shoes and I was fine hahaha
