Hi there,
I like to post photos on a hobby website that I share with
my family. I usually have a thumbnail page with links to full
size images. My full size images are currently 3200x2400.

My goal is to have images that are very good print quality but are small
enough to load quickly and not take up too much space on server.

What would be the optimum size and quality for my full size images?

Thanks for any help you folks can offer!
RC

I'd make a gallery with small images (like 800px. max), that will load fast, and put the higher res images online somewhere to download.

For the small images: Click

For printing a 4x6 you'ld need about 1200x1800 pixels. Too big to fit on most screens ;)

Hi Rene,
Thanks for your advice.
Think I'll try using the 1200x1800 that you mention and see
if that loads faster....Windows will resize them automatically to
the smaller size to fit window.
What did you mean about posting fullsize elswhere for downloading?
By the way, great myspace page!!
Thanks again!

Perhaps you could use small thumbnails for preview and direct the link to bigger scale image should they decided to download and print the image.

There was something called "Orange" or something similar. It was a program that would automatically make a thumbnail page for images in a folder. It is intended for web publication. Ill look for it again.
