That fence is pretty distracting. When shooting thru a fence like this you want to put your lens as close the fence as safely possible. I normally take off the hood and rest the UV filter lightly on the fence.

the umps backside and the fence kind of kill this one..

EDIT: Whoops, I somehow deleted the rest of my response. I think I know the type of photo you're going for and it does work well but usually it's cropped from the umps waist up since it's stickin out there so much and it's the last thing you want the focus to be on. Usually you want the pitcher or batter in focus...

Not the best example by any means and know I have one that shows it better but here's one...verrrry low res.
