Caught the dog at a weak moment, had to be stealthy so as not to wake him.

Did a little adjustment in LR... re-sized in CS3 in two different sizes for different purposes... they look different. Why is that?

#2 - Another from the set.

Anyway, the difference in tone between sizes I'm wondering about, but overall C&C sought after, also. Thanks.

If I understand it correctly, the 2 large renditions were using the Adobe RGB color space.

Perhaps the smaller rendition of #1 shot could be in a different color space (sRGB??).

I think you will find that the two renditions of #1 will have the same coloring when compared to one another if you are viewing them with the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer, because that program does not implement color spaces.

The larger ones were using the even wider gamut space of ProPhoto. When displayed in unmanaged applications the color is heavily altered. The smaller one is unmanaged so appears as sRGB, and no change in color is noted.

My process was like this...

Open in LR --> make adjustments --> export to CS3 with adjustments intact --> resize to 800x533 --> 'save as' (to retain EXIF data) --> resize to 300x200 --> 'save for web' (as this copy didn't "need" EXIF data).

That was it. Other than the difference in save methods, no adjustments at all between one resize and the next.

Yes, but in your preferences in Lightroom you have your color space set to ProPhoto RGB. Changing it to sRGB will give you the correct colorspace for displaying your images on the web in unmanaged environments.

When you "Save For Web", you strip the color profile from the file and it becomes unmanaged. When an image has no profile it is displayed using sRGB by default. That's why it has a different color pallette than the other two that were not "Save For Web".

Here is a shot of where to change your color space:

On the C&C front, I think they're great fun. Your glasses suit your dog very well. Good choice of depth of field, nice focus, good composition re facing into the open space and rule of thirds, good exposure. Nothing I can see to fault. Cheers, Tony

Technically sound shots. They made me think of Norman Rockwell paintings
