Finally, I get a chance to shoot my daughters team WITHOUT having to use my Storm Jacket over my camera!

EXIF should be intact...basically, all shot using 40D - 70-200 f/2.8 - Aperture Priority - Center Focus Point - and trying CWA for metering rather than Evaluative.

C&C always appreciated!

First one doesn't work for me. Would have been good in portrait mode. Others are quite nice. I would recommend using long end of 70-200mm for better back ground blur.

nice images overall. couple things...don't be afraid to bump that ISO for faster shutter speeds and either try exposing for the face a little more or lightening that only in pp. too bad eyes were both shut in #2, love that.

I'm no pro by any means, just a parent with a camera, but I also have kids that play soccer in the PNW and I tend to keep the sun at my back so the face's dont get too dark. I need/want that lens though....great shots.

Actually, this was just a scrimmage up at Franklin HS. Thanks for the comments!

Thanks...Funny, I thought the same thing about #2. If only I could add eyes in pp that looked real!;)

I too always try to get my back to the sun however, this darn field was facing N and S and since it was a scrimmage, we never changed sides so I got 80 minutes INTO the sun. If only those coaches would take photography into consideration! Thanks for the comments!

Yeah, I think it worked okay using CWA rather than Evaluative in those conditions. Thanks!

I think you've done well technically.

Just need a bit of work on your timing and maybe shoot more in portrait mode.

I would also crop these.

Regards,
Jeff

Just need a bit of work on your timing and maybe shoot more in portrait mode.

Would the timing issue be helped by utilising the high-speed continuous shooting mode?

[Ie - take a burst of say 10 or so shots instead of the 1 to increase the chance of getting that "perfect" shot]

cheers,
J&D
