That really is an amazing picture! I find it very difficult to get that kind of focus accuracy with macros and my G9.

Very well done!

How many shots did you have to fire off to get that one?

Set Goals!! If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time!

Lol, only two. The second one had the DOF only taking in half the spider.

Luck may be part of it, but I find it better to leave the lens at the widest angle and move the camera forward or back pushing the shutter halfway repeatedly until the AF square goes green. Of course good light and a higher shutter speed count for a lot.

TommyG,

How did you do it? I am starting to learn this camera, but I am surprised by the focus and shot speed (to capture the waves).

TommyG,

This is the first camera I've ever had and so i'm learning all the time as well and basically I just play around with all the settings until i find one that works and looks well.

For the sunset shot with the water splashing, the settings were as follows...

Shooting Mode = Program AE
Shutter speed = 1/800
Aperture 4
Exposure Compensation = +1/3
ISO = 80
Focal length = 9.0mm
White Balance = Cloudy

Hope that helps :)

Great shots everyone, I love checking this thread for inspiration :)

This thread is for G9 users. I wonder why everyone else wants to post here.

I'm not a macro shooter in general but I saw this guy and grabbed my G9 because it was closest and thought I'd try my luck...

Wow! Beautiful! You must have been pretty close to this guy. I'm impressed that you didn't spook him. Very nice colors.
