I want to take some shots at a Half Marathon coming up.
I've got a Canon 40D and 70-200 F4 lense.
I'm a little unsure on a couple of things. I'll shoot in manual with a shutter speed of close to 1/1000 to freeze single runners, and hopefully an ISO of no higher than 400 depending on weather conditions. Hopefully I'll also be able to shoot at an aperture of below 5.6
What metering mode would you use, and should I take a reading from the runners number or their face?
Lastly, I have limited memory at the moment (4GB), so ideally I'd shoot in jpeg and won't be able to adjust white balance so easily afterwards. Shall I shoot in RAW and accept that I won't be able to take as many shots but will be able to correct any errors afterwards?
