After having no response from my mail to Canon Switzerland in June ... I tried a telefon call to the helpline. I was happy to speak to someone helpful. He send me a new version (Solution CD V.5.0) from the Canon tools.

After deinstalling the old version, I installed the newer version. But the problem is the same with Photorecorder (Error in opapi11.dll).

I tried to install the software on an other PC and I find that Photorecorder works fine !

I compare the dll files on both computer, their are the same. I am afraid its will end with formating my harddisk.

Jacques

Have exact the same problem. Asked Canon and got answer uninstall PhotoRecord and reinstall it. If not this helps you have to reinstall Windows Me. Have formatted disc and installed Windows and all applications again. Same problem remains. Have also tested PhotoRecord on another computer with Win Me.
There it works.
I have a Dell Dimesion 8100 P4, could it be something with Dell drivers??

Are there anybody with a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Kjelle

I noticed the 2 programs have diferent versions of opapi11.dll.
ZoomBrowerser has a Ver. 1, 3, 35, 9 of opapi11.dll.
PhotoRecord has a Ver. 1, 3, 54, 1 of opapi11.dll.
I tried both by renaming and moveing to the win/sys directory and still have the problem.

This is what I get with eathor DLL.

I talked with Canon tech support, and they studied the problem over a few day period. They were very nice and got back to me with answers when they said they would.
What they came up with was not exactly a solution, but at least an explanation.
They said it had to do with the HP printer driver not handling the API calls properly. So this points to the HP printer drivers. They said they have seen this only with HP printers and if you don't have an HP printer, you shouldn't have this problem.
I will get with HP when I have time and see if I can get an answer and then post it here.
I have an HP Deskjet 895Cse, useing the latest HP DeskJet 895C Series v11.1 Toolbox drivers.
Again I'll keep you all updated.

I have being trying to solve my OPAPI11.DLL problem for a few days - but still have not. Reading the messages written I would like to share my experiences.
Canon Support in the UK have not solved it.
My PC is a Dell Dimension 4100 'Me'. My problem seemed to occur after I had installed my HP scanner 6300C. NB: I do not have an HP printer (mine is an Epson).
Canon sent me a new version of ZoomBEX so that I am installing v1.4 of PhotoRecord.

Has anyone got a solution yet? Here's hoping!

I have done some extensive testing and have come to the conclution that it is not due to the HP printer driver.
I uninstalled every thing haveing to do with the printers and reinstalled a Canon printer.
I get the same results.
I guess we can only wait and hope for a fix.

I have had the same problem with the software crashing with error messages attributable to OPAPI11.dll and MFC42.dll. I am running Windows ME. I have uninstalled photorecord, reistalled. I have reinstalled Windows ME. I have talked to Microsoft and Dell they both blame it on Photorecord. I have talked to Canon with no success. (tried everything thet suggested.) Has anyone been able to resolve this problem? I would really like to use the software if possible....

I, too, have been having problems with Photorecord. My ver is 1.1.1 build 24.

My problem is with the text staying in the correct font. It will show up in the text editing box as Comic Sans (or another correct font) then show on the page & print as Times Roman. I uninstalled Times, then it showed a font similar to Times.

Ideas? Maybe someone has a newer build they would be willing to send me to see if that will fix it. I would like to print my 100 page album with the correct fonts.

I really love the program. Can't find any that will do all the things it does.

Sherrie B.

PS I have both an Epson and an HP printer. My program will crash only if I try to do anything to the album when it is rendering.

Yes I have the same problem with text in photorecord. Everytime I try to edit or insert text the program hangs.

It is really frustrating because it seems to be such a good program apart from this.

This is the error message I get:

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I've got the same problem as well! My PC's a Dell 4300 with Win ME, and I get the same OPAPI11.DLL error only when bringing images into Photorecord from Zoombrowser under the PRINT/LAYOUT route.

I've tried all the Canon helpdesk tips and nothing seems to work.

If you want to compare these files I've got 3 OPAPI11 files on my PC - 1 in WIN/SYSTEMS; 1 in Photorecord and 1 in Zommbrowser.

Have you tried starting Photorecord on it's own from the START menu and then "fetching" the image? I don't get the error on this route until I try and add text etc. which could be done from Zoombrowser.

I've got V1.4 of Photorecord and it seems no different - I'd be interested to hear if it solves your error.

I'm using a IXUSV camera which is as good as I expected, but the software seems rubbish!

Does anyone know if the USB driver still waorks if you uninstall Photorecord - I'm considering deleting this and using a real piece of software in it's place.

Regards

This problem may occur if the wrong version of the "opapi11.dll" file
is being used. To rectify this problem, this file will need to be
copied to the correct directory.

To copy the file to the correct directory, you will need to follow
these steps:

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Locate where you installed the PhotoRecord Directory - This will
be the location you specified during the PhotoRecord installation. The
default location is: C:\Program Files\Canon\PhotoRecord
3. Locate the "Program" directory within the PhotoRecord directory
4. Single click on the "opapi11.dll" file to highlight it, then right
mouse click and select "Copy" from the displayed menu
5. Locate the "OpPrintCom" directory within the PhotoRecord directory
6. Right mouse click within the "OpPrintCom" directory and select
"Paste" from the displayed menu
7. Restart PhotoRecord

Thanks for the reply but it still causes the same error!

I've spoken continually with Canon about this and they are aware of the bug but can't seem to fix it. What really concerns me is that they don't openly acknowledge it.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

I am having exactly the same problem as you describe. Did you find a fix?
