Was out today, enjoying the wonderful spring weather, walking through my local park and took a few shots.

This one, I processed with a light chalk effect which is pretty tough to see at web-resolution but it did change the original photo quite a bit...I hope in a positive way?

Cool. Looks like something we'd sell in our store. :)

I don't use Photoshop. I use an older program from Microsoft called Photodraw 2000. This was originally part of the Office 2000 suite of software. It's a bit limiting to do all of the things I like to do so I also use Microsoft's Digital Image Pro 2006 which has a few more modern tricks to play with. I find Photoshop too difficult and expensive and I don't have the patience to learn it properly.

Cheers! :)

Oh sweet! I'll have to look into that and play with it.

Thank you! :)

The effect I used was a pretty subtle one but it seemed to add the right amount of fuzziness to it, at least to my eye.

Cheers!

I like the effect here. Although, I think you should try PS Elements 6 which can do about 80% of what CS3 can do. All I can tell you is to give it a shot. I think PSE 6 is under $100 bucks.

I have tried out the 30 day trial version of Elements 6 and didn't really see it doing anything extra special that I couldn't do with my existing programs. Sure, it was nice to deal with the .cr2 files directly but I don't mind working with the latest Canon DPP 3.2 software and find it has the tools I need to do the initial touch ups and conversions to jpeg. Then from there, my two Microsoft programs cover the rest of my processing needs. I know a lot of folks look down on MS software but I won't let that stop me if they do what I need them to and for the most part, they do.

Cheers!

I really can't tell you what to do but, most of my PP is mostly done in LR and in CS3. These are just suggestions but, if you like what you're using for PP than stay with what you're comfortable with. I feel DPP has it's limitations to a certain extent but, if you learn PS in and out, it will further enhance your creativity.

Best Regards,

Me

Hi Ghost! I hope you don't mind but, I took your photo and did a version of what I think it needs. This was all done in LR and CS3. The PP was real minimal and I gave it bit more punch. I hope ya like. =)

I like the soft etherial effect of the original image, it's very painterly. Also I think the image is very well composed - I like how the eye follows the path through the photo. It's kind of like an early morning mist in the woods photo. Great job!

The second one is different in a different kind of way, as if the light has changed as the day has progressed, it's about 2pm now and the contrast is higher.

Each have their special and interesting qualities. (I studies art history, lol, so can't help myself!)

Canon 350D, Canon 70-300, Canon 100 macro, Canon 18-55 kit lens, Marumi extension tubes, Manfrotto055XB tripod, Manfrotto 3D super junior head (and a brand new 20" silver Imac, lol)

Wow... that was worded really well. :)

I like both... can't really decide which one I like best. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. :)

Nice edit Jay.
