Never shot LAX before but have a big tournament coming up so I figured I better get out and give it a try so I can learn the finer points. Here's a few samples for comment or just to take a look at.

here's two more that my son liked but I wasn't so sure on. I know the horizons need corrected but I didn't know if these are keeper type images or not...

70-200 with a TCon?
Not bad for a first outing. LAX can be a "busy" sport to shoot. Its one where it definitely helps to learn the rules.

1 and 3 are good stock-ish shots but not really anything worth posting. Im sure parents would love them though. 2 is nice and 4 doesnt really show too much..

The last 3 dont really do anything for me. #1 is a nice idea and one Ive done before but I just wish it was tighter. That's probably just personal preference though so take it for what its worth.

thanks Adam. Having played hockey I figured I'd know the game well enough (thinking they are similar) but that really wasn't the case. In hockey, I could anticipate the logical pass but with LAX, it can seem a little helter sketler at times (although I am sure there's some method to the madness). Stock is good for the tourney since that's what I expect parents will buy the most of. I'd like to get a little more dynamic though. Seeing some of the stuff you and others have done with LAX makes me realize I need to sort the game out a bit more to really get the good stuff.

Thanks for the comments and yeah, 70-200 w/ 1.4 I'm finding this combo to work well in good light. Even tried shooting a few in Av mode as Dennis discussed last week. I can see it's strong points but I am still not convinced that I won't be in manual most of the time.

Scott, Your photos are Amazingly sharp with the TC. Boys LAX is really fast - much faster then the Girls.
I know after all winter shooting Basketball. Trying to follow a LAX ball . Look like you had some decent light to work with.

thanks Paul. Yeah light was late day (5:30 start time) so we had some good light low in the sky which made for good shooting. Started to get a little dark towards the end and I found the keeping it above 1/1000 was tough.

You're right about LAX though...man is it ever fast!!!! Trying to get the shot on goal when it's fed from behind the net is nuts!

Scooter, not to shabby. I still remember my first lax game - scored 5 goals and never played again...Gym Class Hero I tell ya!

For your "questionable" ones - #1 I would keep cropped tighter though. #2 for some purposes it would be good but probably would sell more if focused on the goalie.

lol!!! man I can't shake that nickname, college, same thing.

bet those girlies luv'd ya and good strategy, quit it while still a hero. I like your style brutha!

thanks for the thoughts on the iffy ones. Funny, I thought the exact same thing about the second one after seeing it. the concentration of the keeper would have been much better than the back of the shooter. doh!

I'll e ya later. See what you have coming up.

My schedule starts to get insane here very soon...shootin, coachin, or both every day for, oh a month or so. Lake County is on the schedule but we know that can fall through any second with the weather. Whens the tournie for LAX?

May 17-18. Should be interesting as it's my first big tourney. No onsite printing at this one but we are shooting wallpics (like Fatheads) which could be a decent $ maker if it goes well.

you are going to be nuts for sure man. keep me posted on LC and I'll come on out. I need a break from the office anyway!

I added wallhogs to my list this year as well...waiting to see how it goes, I added about 10 new products for T&I stuff. I need a break from WNY, ha.

lol, yeah. might try some of those photoballs as well. lemme know how your sales on the wallhogs go and I'll do the same. be interesting to see if parents will part with that kind of cash when I can't seem to get enough to spend a fin on a 4x6.

I upped all my prices this year and added a lot so we'll see. As I've mentioned in the past we're not the best area for extra income so my prices are kind of cheap anyways compared nationally or global even, but hopefully they do well.

4x6 they get commercials saying .19cents so they assume that price for everyone and everything, even if a pro takes the image and put his knowledge and work into it.
