Was out shooting prothonotary warblers last Thursday and noticed 3 bobolinks. They are rare for Oklahoma as the books just show a migrating line through western OK (shot these in East-Central OK). We had 30mph+ winds and I was hand holding the 500 + 1.5tc in it and shooting at ISO 400 (accidentally left it at that from shooting warblers in the shade).

Not the best of pics, but good enough to show.

Wow, I haven't seen a bobolink since I was a kid back in Iowa. I love how they fly up and then coast down making their "spinkle-spankle" song. Thanks for the picture and for rekindling my memory.

canonloader, I haven't got the warblers up yet as it was busy last week and this week is just as bad. I have to get a dozen or so pictures to be matted and framed (I do the matting and framing) by Friday morning for the Nature Festival that is going on here this weekend.

It took us a while to ID them since it isn't something you see everyday around here.

Congrats on this addition. Bobolinks are foudn here but they're not easy to approach. I love their call.
