Any suggestions on where I can obtain a 1ds Mark II in the US? So far I'm striking out on finding any.

All I can suggest is check out BH, Adorama and other reputable online dealers on a daily basis. Or order one and wait for their back order to be filled. If going this route I recommend BH.

Two other companies I would not trust myself are listed on Pricegrabber.com (under Canon 1Ds mark II) that say they have them in stock. Caveat Emptor.

You can also check the various forums in case somebody else got two instead of one. Happened to at least two people I am aware of.

Finally talk to your local camera store - they can order one it may or not come in faster then BH

Stocking stuffer

Well, I hope Santa takes care of you timmyquest! :)

And Longwatcher, that's what I've been doing with the same suspects. I did call that store in Waterford, CT that was listed in the forum......it's gone and they are backordered as well.

BHPhoto apparently doesn't take orders when they are in a backorder state (which I kinda like actually as I've ordered stuff before in a pre-order arrangement (not cameras and not from BHPhoto) which left me stuck one time in the past. I've learned to look for in stock opportunities wherever possible. Besides, I like that tracking number within hours of the order. Ah the now generation we've become. Canon is in an enviable position it seems. :)
