First time trying to catch a bird in flight. A lot more difficult than I expected, but here it is anyway. Any suggestions on making future pictures better.

would be handy to know what camera /lens and settings -lOOKING at the wing movment i would say you were around 1/400sec far to slow .

Sorry about that i forget every time. It is a XTi with a EF 75-300 lens at 1/400s f/5.6. I didn't have much time to adjust settings because just before that i was taking pictures of the same bird swimming.

I would definitely try and get that shutter speed up to at least 1/800s or higher. You may have to increase your ISO if the picture is too dark.

Actually, you would have had to increase the ISO to obtain a faster shutter speed. An optimum shutter speed for bif's is 1/1250/sec.
