Hi all,
This happened yesterday...
I went around shopping and for a haircut (which never happend in the end, but that is not the issue at hand) and so have a chat with one of the local photogs here that I have gotten to know. Well this person shots Canon stuff so I though bring along the 10D/grip w/ 24-70L mounted as said person still shoots 35mm. No problem there, just being a wise guy. So we got talking and the conversation winded down and we said good bye and that was that. Next I wandered off and lo and behold there was the Santa and the kid shot going on. I still had the 10D/Big Ed and the 24-70mm F2.8L on my shoulder. I was wondering what they were shooting and it was a rater small p&s maybe a 4MP. They were doing 8x10s at the largest. I was looking at some of the pics and suffice it to say that the quality left a lot to be desired. THey were charging $10 for an 8x10! Ouch! So I pulled the 10D out form behind me and it is like a magnet. They were really impressed. I'm thinking ok, cool. I saw the Santa catch a glimpse of my camera and it was game on. The ironic part was that the pics were being taken by 2 kids, one 10 and one 16 (I founf this out much later). I also noticed that they are looking for photogs. I shoot I score...sorta! I go talk to Santa about doing some stuff on the side and the only problem is that the business is about an hour and 45 min from where I live. D-oh...sorta. So next I enquire about some opportunities a little closer to home and well I got a few times that he told me about. This was cake. I never thought it could be that easy to do a gig. So come Wed he said to call and we'd talk turkey. Thurs there is a gig about 20 min from where I live. He said that I should show up. I said that I'd be there. Sweet! So now it is time to see what I can do. I am really looking fwd to this. The other cool bit is that he said with a caera like I have, I could make some decent to a good amount cash here. I could always use some extra cash! So from 10-12 I will be doing that bit on Thurs and now the big question is will anyone want pics in the 13x19 size? I'm thinking small/fine or med fine jpeg will work great for this example. It looks like 8x10 will be about as big as we will be printing. Stay tuned and I will let you know how it goes. Now I need to do a real good cleaning of the 10D as we sure as heck don't want dust bunnies in the pics. I'm thinking 10D and 24-70 F2.8L ought to do it. I also have the 16-35 F2.8L I might bring along...or even the 50mm F1.8. That was mounted on the 10D once to see what it looked like and that was it. Now to strat cleaning the lenses, and CMOS chip on the 10D....fun!
