I recently did a bridal shoot and I uploaded to photoreflect with my normal pricing setup. I received an email that said she liked the photos and was writing down which images the family members wanted, and wanted to know a price for all of them. Then she said the bride wanted to pick out 40 4x6's of her favorite images and wanted a price for that.

I'm not sure why she would ask this - does she not see the website is intended to make orders with the sizes and prices shown?

She also wants me to remove all of my watermarks

IMAGE: http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum/images/smilies/undecided.gif

I don't know what else to do but tell her my prices are marked to the left of each image?

She also asked me to shoot a dinner next week for her and wants 100 images on a disc. Do you guys/gals give out full res files?

Full rez on a disk - sure, if she wants to pay several hundred dollars in premium charges. Once she has the disk, you've lost print sales and she'll run to the nearest drugstore possibly, which may or may not make a has of your carefully crafted exposures.

Also, explain to her diplomatically why the watermark is there and remind her, also diplomatically of how the pricing is shown on the site. Perhaps when she asked the question she was hoping for some sort of bulk discount on a larger order as opposed to smaller individual stuff. This is not unusual. I am sometimes approached in this manner, and if it's a large order I will give some courtesy or consideration. That type of discount can go a long way in good advertising, sales and future referrals.

The dinner, well if they pay me for my services, I will usually provide them with 1200x800px photos.

If they pay me for my services AND prints, I will provide them with a CD with 100 selected JPEG photos processed.

Its a thin line but I would recommend being upfront and discussing it direct so they know exactly what is what.

OK - you may want to correct that as a lot of folks like to check out member sites. Is that Cathy's bridal portrait? The thumbnails look nice, but when I try to click on individual photos I get:

Yes, I am really starting to get fed up with Photoreflect. Pages have been loading slow and these errors happen time to time - to all photoreflect users.

Yep - it's working for me too now, although it's extremely slow when enlarging the thumbnails. Nick, I don't know if it's always like that as I haven't had any prior experience with it, but it's so slow that it could possibly be costing you business from clients getting frustrated and giving up.

Other than that she's a very pretty girl. You've got some nice fill on her face too - few shadows under the eyes, which makes her even more attractive.

Yes, sometimes it takes up to 10-15 seconds for the image to load after clicking a thumbnail!

I could be wrong and understand the water marks are there to prevent copying photos and resising and making a mess of you're hard work, but mabye she ment remove them so she can clearly see the photo to determin if she realy liked them(or mabye she thinks thats how they will look), in some they were covering the face and what not, you know women are pickey :) other than that they look realy great nice work.

I think you need to explain your pricing in advance of shoots, but sit down with this woman and explain it to her. Don't use email. Explain that the up front fee doesn't buy your art, it gets you to turn up. Preparing the images for print takes a long time and the fee doesn't cover that. Explain the watermark is to prevent people printing your work and taking away your income.

I sell CDs for a reasonable fee. I'd sell individual files but they'd be priced quite high.
