I saw on dp review that canon has released the Digital Photo Professional update 1.5. This update is now available under the 10d application downloads. http://consumer.usa.canon.com …modelid=8772#New%20Window (external link) I got the digital photo professional 1.0 from the following site and upgraded using the download from the 10d page.

Thought, I would let the 10d guys know. This should also work for digital rebel folks

10D, sigma 15-30, canon 28-135IS, canon 50 MKII.

You don't need DPP version 1.0 to be able to install the DPP 1.5 update. According to Canon:

Before downloading Digital Photo Professional 1.5.0 Updater for Windows please make sure that if any of the applications listed below are installed on your computer.
- File Viewer Utility 1.1 to 1.3
- EOS Viewer Utility 1.0/1.1
- Digital Photo Professional 1.0/1.1
- RAW Image Task 1.2

You probably already had File Viewer Utility installed, because you got it on a CD with the 10D.

I saw this sentence on the site, too, but it doesn't make sense. "...please make sure that if any..." and then it doesn't say what to do "if any..."

Am I reading this correctly?

It is possible to install DPP 1.5 without having DPP 1.0 installed. As the Canon statement says (or means to say) having any one of those other products installed is sufficient.

I went to the Digital Rebel download section and it let me download DPP 1.5. It installed fine, and I never had an earlier version installed. I did have FileViewer and EOSViewer installed already.

Maybe this will get me to start shooting in RAW.

In a word NO.

The statment reads: ' Before downloading Digital Photo Professional 1.5.0 Updater, please make sure that if any of the applications listed below are installed on your computer, they have been started at least once'

But in the english language, the conditional word "if" suggests some course of action will be subsequently specified for situations where the condition referenced by the "if" is true. A clearer way to phrase the statement would be to simply leave out the word "if."

mentally remove the word "that" from the sentence and see that makes more sense to you. :)
